Anyone who has been to my house for any reason, even for *gasp* a party, would have seen the room by the front door. We call this room the "office," but it really is just one wrinkled up, un-filed piece of paper away from earning us a spot on "How Clean is Your House?" Certainly everyone we welcome into our home looks at this room and thinks, "Hmm, I wonder why she thinks it's appropriate to have people here when looking at this room makes my eyes burn?!?!" Go ahead - you have permission to think these things. It's true. This room was a DISASTER.
It has been on my "things that need to be done yesterday" list since February. I'm not very good at doing a little at a time, but I've also had a real issue with finding the motivation to go down in the dungeon and get it done. Out of the clear blue today, though, I found myself down there with a trash bag and didn't come out until it was done. (except to get Amy so I could feed her.)
When you see the picture you may wonder why it was such a huge issue for being such a small room. Most of the reason is that I am really just a procrastinator when it comes to dealing with things that are chaotic. To quote the highly respected role model of mine, Kate Gosselin, "In a cluttered world, my mind is cluttered." That was a joke. I do watch the show, but I don't even *lowly* respect her, and she is certainly not my role model. I do, however, completely agree with that statement. I can do everything better when my surroundings are tidy. So, here I present my newly motivating workspace....

wow! Great job!
ReplyDeleteand I never thought that when I visited your house. Offices are always messy. I LOVE that room. I always look in there to admire
a)the gorgeous color scheme.
b)the built in shelving
c)the fabulous way you've perfectly arranged the shelves so there is both storage and pretty things. :)
