I started training 10 weeks ago for the Blue Cross Broad Street Run. Before we got married, Bob and I ran a 1/2 marathon (13 miles.) I ended up walking about 3 of those miles, and it took 3 hours to complete. (Bob stayed with me the whole time, even though he could have gone way ahead. Wonderful man!) That was, when I assumed, I was in the best shape of my life.
My goal this time was to finish in under two hours and actually jog the entire thing.
I definitely reached goal #2...I did NOT stop to walk at all!!!! Go me! When I got close enough to the finish line to see the clock, I realized I was pushing it to be under 2 hours. I SPRINTED across the finish line in hopes of beating the clock. I thought I did.
I didn't. My official chip time was 2:00:57 (an average 12 minute mile)....58 seconds shy of my goal!Oh well. When comparing myself to the "world of runners," that is a bit pathetic. When comparing myself to the general population, that's pretty amazing. Even though I didn't reach my goal, I'm quite happy with it since I did better this time around - especially after having two babies in the meantime (one of which is not even a year old yet!) Wahoo!
My next adventure: The Philadelphia Distance Run: 13 miles. (A re-do of what I did three years ago! Except my goal is to finish this one in 2 hours as well!!)
You are amazing!!! That is awesome! :)
