I did not receive flowers from a fancy little flower delivery van.... or anything else that falls in the category of "typical Mother's Day presents." These lil gifts were what I needed more than anything on a day like today.
Today was the kind of day that goes from 0-60 with absolutely no warning whatsoever. In the midst of the chaos, I received present #1.
This came from my same-age-as-me-nephew. While one daughter was refusing a nap and starting to loudly share her feelings about her unfamiliar "poops hawwwting" issues but attempted to "fix" it by doing pee-pee on the kitchen floor, another daughter was getting very frustrated with waiting too long for her lunch, a puppy was chewing every shoe he could find, and a Mom was starting to doubt her abilities to micro-manage as a stay-at-home Mom, "Unnle Roh" called to relay a wonderful message from his Mom. His message fixed all of those doubts, even though the chaos continued through our conversation. I was a hot and sticky mess for the rest of the day because that chaos carried through for quite some time, but I felt 100% proud of my little chaotic family! Thanks, Rob.
Present #2 came from a friend who recently started to read this blog. I actually started a post earlier tonight about this crazy day, but I deleted it because I often worry that too many of my posts sound like complaints about my life. And I never want to complain. She fixed that. Yay! She gave me a big-fat-thumps-up on my parenting skills.
It always amazes me how a short note or a quick phone call for one person, can completely change another's mood/outlook/confidence/DAY!
"You're a good Mom." You have no idea what those words mean to me! Thank you!
Aw! Yay! :):)
ReplyDeleteYou ARE an amazing mom. No doubt about it.
